In the words of The National Observer, Judy Garland won her “eternal fame” as Dorothy, singing “Over the Rainbow” in the 1939 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer motion picture classic, The Wizard of Oz. Her accomplishments, however, extend far beyond Oz.
With Judy Garlands passing in London on June 22, 1969, she was mourned around the world which sparked the birth of the gay pride movement. Her reputation as a timeless, incomparable, and never-surpassed entertainer has only increased in the intervening decades.
